* Using Models for Client Presentations  
by John D. Battle, AIA  
John will demonstrate the power of using his iPad to present 3D models for client presentations. He will show what programs and apps (3DVIA) he uses to export his CAD models into the iPad and how it can be used for dynamic animated "hands on" presentations. Also, he will show a related technique to use o2c Interactive to take rendered models and put them directly into site photos.

* Using DataCAD 3D Modeling Tools

Neil will demonstrate the power of using DataCAD's 3D section tool in 3D modeling technique. He starts with a SketchUp model that is then XREFed into DataCAD for cutting section profiles. He will also show how this tool can be used along with Mask, Offset, Grouping, Fillets and MSP for prototype modeling and log book layouts.

* Creating a Model Prototype with a CNC machine

Neil will show how the results of how the CAD modeling profiles are then processed for direct cutting of modeling materials using a CNC (Computer Numerical Control), so they can be stacked and glued to build up an actual 3D object. In this case, he will be showing his 1/4 scale model and some full size pieces of his CarBEN EV5, which is a 5 seat electric car that he is building.

Signature Architects is located in a two-story office building at the south end of Chelmsford, on Rt. 110.  The office is very easy to get to, with ample parking.

From Points North:   Take I-495 South to Exit 32 (Westford).  At the
bottom of the ramp take a LEFT. Go to the second set of traffic lights
(gas stations on 3 corners). Follow the “Common Directions” below.

From Points South: Take I-495 North to Exit 32 (Westford)  At the
bottom of the ramp take a RIGHT. Go to the first set of traffic lights
(gas stations on 3 corners). Follow the “Common Directions” below.

Common Directions:
At the traffic lights take a LEFT onto Rt. 110/Littleton Road. Go 2
miles, passing into Chelmsford along the way. Ours is an L-shaped
brick office building on the LEFT (with Thai and Indian restaurants).
