The Women in Design Symposium at the 2016 ArchitectureBoston Expo (ABx) will explore the impact of public‐interest design on the evolving building industry.
WiD is offering scholarships to attend the full day Symposium. This scholarship includes free admission for the recipient to the full day seminar on November 16th from 8am to 6pm, including the Keynote Breakfast (session SB1), the morning session (B30: Impact Design ‐ Our Role Within a Global Context), the Women in Design Award of Excellence Ceremony & luncheon (session SB2), the afternoon session (B69: Can You Get A Job? Career Paths in Public Interest Design), and WiD happy hour (Session SB3) as well as access to the expo floor.
Recipients will be chosen by WiD ABX committee based on the essay responses below. Scholarship applications are open to any interested individuals. There are four scholarships available, two of which are reserved for student applicants currently enrolled in a college or university. Submit applications via the ABx Scholarship online form at http://abexpo.com/conference/scholarships/, selecting Apply Online and the Women in Design Scholarship in the application drop down menu. TO SUBMIT: In the essay portion of the application, indicate your current student status if applicable (college or university name and your expected graduation date), and respond to one (1) of the following prompts in 200 words or fewer:
1. How do you define “public‐interest”?
2. How do you propose educating the public on the importance of design?
3. Describe a personal experience of a public space and how its design affected the experience.
