State Designer Selection Board - Executive Director Position

 

The State of Massachusetts is looking for an Executive Director (ED) for the Designer Selection Board (DSB).

The DSB is an autonomous eleven member board that selects designers for public building construction throughout the Commonwealth. Eight members are appointed by the Governor, three of whom are registered architects, three registered engineers, and two representatives of the public who are not architect designers, engineers, or construction contractors.

The ED plays a foundational role in DSB operations. In every aspect, the ED supports DSB’s integrity, fairness, and transparency. S/he plays six very significant roles:

  • Manage the DSB application and selection process to ensure full integrity and transparency, maximum effectiveness, optimal user-friendliness and efficiency;
  • Promote DSB in the A/E community and train A/E firms in DSB processes;
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with user agencies, DCAMM, and the Governor’s Office;
  • Manage the DSB staff, infrastructure and budget;
  • Report on DSB activities and results;
  • Promote innovation in DSB operations and outcomes; and
  • Develop policies and procedures.
