Tools for Performance-Based Planning and Design

Establishing owner performance requirements has been shown to lead to successful outcomes. To kick off BEC’s fall series on this topic, we welcome Roger Grant of NIBS who will present and lead a discussion on establishing performance-based planning and design objectives and analyzing results to support decision-making. Roger will introduce systems such as the General Services Administration’s (GSA’s) new performance-based P100 Facilities Standards for the Public Buildings Service and the complementary National Performance-Based Design Guide. He will also address how to evaluate and manage resilience as a performance metric, as well as how to use Total Cost of Ownership as the ultimate evaluator of efforts to improve facility performance, sustainability and resilience.
