Presentation overview (PDF)
by Rosalyn Elder and Christina Lanzl
A joint undertaking of the BSA’s Urban Design Committee, the Public Art Initiative, and the Placemaking Network, this brochure and summary PDF features select public art and integrated design projects by Massachusetts agencies/authorities, municipalities, institutions, and the private sector. Topics include the typology of art in public places, funding models and best practices.
Recognition of successful public realm projects through a dedicated award helps to inspire discourse and offers opportunities on many levels. This insight resulted in a joint effort with the BSA’s Urban Design Committee to establish a new Placemaking award category will be part of the revised Urban Design Award to be launched in January 2009.
