The WELL Building Standard: Leadership in Healthy Workplaces

This introduction to the WELL Building Standard presentation provides an overview of the rating system concepts, features and certification process. The basis for each concept is introduced along with design and construction strategies and real world, practical examples. Incorporating the potential for positive health outcomes into the built environment is the future of building design. This presentation will introduce how to do this using the WELL Building Standard as the framework.

Presenters:

Jennifer Taranto of Structure Tone advocates for reducing environmental impact of the built environment and enabling organizations to improve people’s health and well-being while reducing the construction and operating costs of facilities. She gets involved in the early stages of client projects to define the needs and the overall sustainability goals in order to create an internal road map for a team's success. Jennifer brings more than eighteen years of experience in the commercial real estate and construction industry, and joined Structure Tone in 2001. Her previous roles included superintendent and project manager prior to becoming Structure Tone’s Director of Sustainability in 2008.

Mallory Taub joined Arup in 2012 and has gained experience in the San Francisco, London, and Boston offices as a sustainability consultant working towards reducing environmental impacts of the built environment while maximizing opportunities for enhancing occupant health and well-being. She brings an interdisciplinary approach to developing sustainability strategies for high performance buildings and portfolios. She creatively integrates engineering tools with her architectural design experience to collaboratively develop holistic buildings and communities.
