Deadline: September 1, 2009
Residential Design and Construction 2010 (RDC), the Boston Society of Architects' convention and tradeshow that focuses on residential design and construction, invites proposals for workshops, panel discussions and seminars that address the following topics: residential design innovations, affordable housing for everyone, energy-efficient design and systems, community design, new products, green design, building technology, residential building systems, alternative energy systems, interior design, lighting, kitchen design, landscape design, interior and exterior surface materials, accessible design, co-housing and other non-traditional housing types, zoning, single- and multi-family house design, codes and standards, and business and professional practice.
RDC attendees are design and construction professionals who seek relevant, practical information and tools to help them better serve their residential clients and manage successful small practices. Workshop panels that are multi-disciplinary, interactive and include case studies are encouraged. Proposals that promote one design solution or a particular product or product type or are didactic or overly theoretical or abstract will not be considered.
RDC is April 14-15, 2010. The workshop program is designed and built in the Fall each year, so please act on this now.

Please print this confirmation (which also includes a copy of your workshop proposal submission) for your records. YOUR PROPOSAL HAS NOT BEEN SUCCESSFULLY SUBMITTED IF THE CONFIRMATION MESSAGE DOES NOT APPEAR. You will also receive an email confirmation that includes your submission information. Please save this email confirmation.

Please note: If you are leading or participating in this workshop yourself, be sure to list yourself in one of the spaces below designated for moderators or panelists/presenters as well as in the space designated for 'Person completing this form'.
Incomplete submissions: It is very difficult to consider proposal submissions that are missing speakers’ names, credentials, contact information and clear workshop descriptions and text.
Demos: Call Brian Keefe at 800-544-1898 if you wish to propose a product demo rather than a workshop.

Before you type anything, please review the following notes:
Notes:
- Fees & Expenses Panelists who participate in RDC do so pro bono... and many industry wizards contribute their wisdom each year.
- Panelists' Names The most common complaint we receive from panelists is the misspelling of their names or firms in the RDC program. Please be sure the names and other information you are providing for each panelist are accurate and include appropriate professional designations (AIA, P.E., IIDA, ASLA, etc.).
- If you or your firm is submitting more than one proposal, please prioritize them by adding a number in the title (#1, #2, etc.) so we know that #1 is the proposal you consider most important/timely, #2 is your next priority, etc.
- List the learning objectives for the session in the spaces provided. Learning objectives should be clear, concise and indicate specific learning outcomes. Include at least four learning objectives. Note: all workshops will be evaluated for AIA learning units and may be evaluated for IDCEC credits.
- Product Demos If you wish to propose product demos or similar presentations, call 800-544-1898.
- Format Please use upper-case and lower-case letters; do not type everything in upper-case letters.
- Learning Units Presenters who are AIA members may earn Learning Units for workshop presentations either by self-reporting their research/preparation hours OR by claiming credit for the teaching time for their program. For more information, contact Ann Fienman at afienman@architects.org or 617-951-1433 x233.
- Acknowledgment If you do not receive an e-mail acknowledging receipt of this proposal shortly after submitting it, write Leslie Martin at lmartin@architects.org.
