Where Are the Utopian Visionaries? Architecture of Social Exchange

A new exhibit at BSA Space aims to showcase the work of contemporary architects, designers and thinkers who continue to address an essential question: What is the role of social and community building in the practice of architecture? Through a mapping of the locations of a series of revolutionary projects and writings, the exhibition physically displays an array of design professionals who are dedicated to establishing equity and strengthening social ecologies worldwide. The exhibit uses a flexible grid of tiled imagery and words, accompanied by a series of interactive podiums supporting photographs and reading material.

Where Are the Utopian Visionaries? is curated by Hansy Better Barraza AIA, LEED AP, associate professor of architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and a principal at Studio Luz Architects in Boston. The exhibition draws content from a recent publication of the same name, also edited by Barraza.
