Committee on Homelessness / back to Committee page »

The mission of the Committee on Homelessness is to assist the design community to enhance the quality of life of Boston’s homeless population through advocacy, volunteering and pro bono project work.

Founded in 1986 by John Wilson, the BSA Task Force to End Homelessness has attracted design and related professionals to pro-bono projects for nearly 20 years. During this time an estimated 200 professionals had worked on more than 80 projects. After the Task Force disbanded, its activities have partially been taken over by a number of other community focused committees and organizations. It has however become clear that the needs of the homeless in the greater Boston area have indeed grown, and the issue of homelessness is as pressing, if not more pressing, than before.

New Initiative:
The Committee on Homelessness is currently entering its formation phase. This group will exclusively be focused on the issue of homelessness, and will align itself with a number of existing community and service oriented committees and groups in order to find ways to serve the homeless in the greater Boston area through advocacy, volunteering and pro bono project work. Those interested in becoming involved in this new initiative are invited to contact the committee chair for more information.
