Inaugural Volunteering Event - Y2Y Boston Request for Skilled Labor

Y2Y Harvard Square is the nation’s first student run homeless shelter for young adults, opening in the next 1-2 months. Despite hundreds of young adults who experience homelessness, there are only twelve beds specifically dedicated to their needs in the Greater Boston area. Y2Y Harvard Square will more than double the number of available beds and provide sanctuary, facilitate pathways out of homelessness, and provide opportunities for advocacy and leadership development.

Y2Y would love some skilled help to keep this project on time for the Opening Celebration on November 6. If you are able and willing to put in some consistent hours between now and Friday 11/6, please fill out this form. Work will primarily be done on the weekends, or in the afternoon and evenings, so joining after work is possible. Your work will make a transformative difference in the shelter's renovation, and a significant contribution to addressing the needs of homeless young adults in the Boston area.

Y2Y is looking for volunteers to:

  • Paint a stairwell
  • Install wood paneling on a wall
  • Paint bunk-bed and cabinetry components
  • Build cabinetry and lockers

As an inaugural voluinteering event of this Committee, we support this initiative and invite those able to assist to contact Y2Y.
