Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund survey

Eric White, Executive Director of the BSA, and I have been exploring the opportunity of securing Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund Program monies to support the delivery of a training curriculum that otherwise would be cost-prohibitive to us. We have identified a vendor that can meet critical development needs in areas like project management, leadership development, team-building, conflict resolution, and many other key areas.

I have attached a Training Needs Assessment from The Strafford Group (, our partner in the grant process. Please fill out the attached survey and return it directly to Marc Spaulding at by Friday, July 8th. We will use the data to establish priorities for workshop delivery and to create a detailed schedule for the next 18-24 months.

Please note the following:

  1. The training is completely free.
  2. Courses will be scheduled in 2-3 hour blocks of time over several weeks to allow maximum flexibility for attending the workshops.
  3. To participate your firm must complete a short 3 page application that assures The State of Massachusetts that you meet a short set of minimum state requirements. These simple requirements include things like your firm’s taxes to the state have been paid and you have no pending labor actions against your firm. The Strafford Group will assist you with the application process.

  1. Speak to members of your firm about their training needs. You may already have a good idea about the developmental needs in your firm so it may be easy to confirm what’s at the top of your list without much effort.
  2. Fill out the Training Needs Assessment form. You may print, hand-write and scan then send. Or you may work in the document itself, save it and then send it back to The Strafford Group. Be sure to indicate both the relative priority of the workshop and the anticipated number of attendees from your firm for each of the courses listed in the assessment.
  3. Send the completed form to by Friday, July 8th.

Thank you in advance for your time and I look forward to working with all of you to take full advantage for this wonderful opportunity.
