Design-In: Mindfulness at Work

As Designers we spend most of our waking hours creating exterior spaces for others but how often do we look inwards to design our own inner space? It's easy to be consumed by daily tasks and lose focus of our inner balance. How can we design-in to be more resilient, creative and joyful?

Spend an evening with us and make time to nurture your inner space and answer this question together.

In this interactive session, Architect turned Mindfulness Consultant Ishita Sharma will introduce simple tools to de-stress in your workday and lead us in a guided meditation.

Why Mindfulness at work? In the age of stress and distraction, we need to be present and centered to truly thrive at work! Mindfulness and Meditation cultivate our most precious resource- our inner space. We cannot control daily stresses and challenges, but we can learn to respond more consciously to them and stay resilient under pressure. Like any other skill, presence, resilience and creativity can be nurtured with training and practice. Join us to find out how!

Founder and Director of Come to Center, Ishita Sharma empowers individuals and organizations to thrive using Mindfulness, Meditation and Facilitation. She blends a decade of professional practice as an architect/artist and a lifetime of spiritual practice to personalize latest research and age-old wisdom to clients' contexts. Her clients include multinationals, startups and businesses in diverse sectors, non-profits, CEOs, scientists, designers and artists.

The event is FREE and open to the public. There will be light refreshments and time for conversation after the session so please RSVP for accurate headcount. You will also have a chance to win a free Mindfulness session for your whole office!

Join Women in Design Boston for third event in our Career Series!

The average worker today stays at each of her jobs for 4.4 years, but the expected tenure of the workforce’s youngest employees is about half that. That means that incoming employees could have 15 - 20 jobs over the course of their career. In this fast moving world determining what path to take your career can be difficult to determine. By learning how to design your career and take charge of the direction you are heading we can learn how to be more satisfied by our daily jobs and how to reach our long term goals. This year, Women in Design is exploring this topic with events and programming that will strategize career planning, explore career paths and give us the tools to build our own personal brands.

Design Your Brand Workshop:

Branding isn't only about a job search; it's about who you are at work, what you are known for, and how colleagues describe you when you’re not there. How can you build a positive brand as a combination of your personal values and philosophy, your attitude and visible attributes, as well as your skills, experience, and education? The workshop will explore a series of exercises to help participants understand the fundamentals of branding and the tools and strategies to begin to articulate and leverage one's own unique value.

Workshop Leader:

Kim Littlefield is a Senior Vice President for Keystone Partners, and has over 15 years experience in strategic business development. As a career management and leadership strategist, Kim works with global organizations in developing successful programs for hiring and retention, executive coaching, team building and executive education and management training. She holds a Master of Science degree in Adult and Organizational Learning from Suffolk University and a Bachelor's in Business Administration from Bryant University, and is a sought after speaker on topics such as Networking for Success, Navigating a Room, Negotiating and Personal Branding.
