Artist Statement

I love photographing architecture. I try to respond to what I am seeing, finding the curves that catch my eye, keeping an open mind to what the architect might have wanted me to notice, or what the light is highlighting, and sometimes how buildings are interacting with each other.
This alley shows the inhuman scale of skyscrapers. The woman is dwarfed by the space and seems insignificant, lost in a no-man’s-land. The advertisement on the next street gives relief and a place where she will emerge back into the human-focused street level of these massive buildings.
