We are pleased to have Mark Newey, CPHC High Performance Building Professional with Center for EcoTechnology, join us to present and lead a guided discussion of the Home Energy Rating System (HERS). An essential component of residential design, Mark will begin by giving an overview of the HERS index and the Energy Code requirements. He will delve into the details of how the HERS rating is calculated and both the well-known and lesser-known design factors that impact the HERS rating. We will conclude with a broader discussion of how HERS fits in with other rating systems such as ENERGY STAR, Zero NET Energy, LEED, and Passive House and what the next Stretch Energy Code may require.
