This is a brief report on codes and regulatory activities including the status of pending legislation and Building Code / regulatory changes of interest to Owners, Developers, Architects, and Engineers. Topics include the status of Codes by Boards that oversee areas of building construction and coordination of codes (BCCC).

Guest Speaker: Doug Anderson, Manager of Code Advisory Group, C3 Consulting

For this second session of the 2018 Codes Committee’s annual cycle of code presentations, Doug Anderson of C3 – Commercial Construction Consulting will focus on code requirements for renovating existing heavy timber buildings.
Doug will discuss a number of topics related to existing Heavy Timber Buildings, including how to identify them; how to determine the most ideal construction type based on proposed change of use; and addressing construction issues encountered when retrofitting new building systems. He will use a case study of a renovated high rise heavy timber building to explain the current code complications with existing building requirements.

As a complement to the presentation our speaker will provide a PDF to all attendees who request it.
