The Contracts Specialist / Paralegal role is an opportunity to work closely with Payette’s leadership and legal counsel in enforcing and maintaining an acceptable risk profile for the firm. The candidate will play a critical role in Payette’s Operations group by managing interactions and strategies related to new and existing architectural contracts.

Candidates must have the following qualifications to be considered for the position:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least four years of professional experience in a business operations-oriented role, or two years of experience as a paralegal at a law firm.
  • Possess an in-depth understanding of legal principles and terminology and have experience clearly communicating complex legal concepts to decision-makers.
  • Capability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
  • Experience as a proactive and effective communicator, initiating contact in person, by phone, and in writing while in pursuit of information and input.
  • Strong attention to detail and technical writing and editing skills.
  • Knowledge of architecture, construction, and AIA agreements is preferred.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the point-of-contact for all contract matters regarding architectural services.
  • Collaborate with leadership, outside counsel, and insurers while crafting, evaluating, negotiating, and executing a variety of different contracts covering a range of transactions.
  • Develop and update the firm’s contracting standards and templates as needed.
  • Support leadership, outside counsel, and insurers in claim mitigation efforts.
