About This Position

Sasaki is moving to downtown Boston in early 2022! Along with our move, the Architecture group is looking for well-rounded Project Architects with strong experience in CA. We are looking for teammates that are excited to engage fully from the get-go and that view each project with a lens on sustainability, function, practicality and inspiring welcoming design.

Ideas matter tremendously around here and as a Sasaki team member you will be encouraged to have a point of view, to share your thinking often, to push design quality further, and to develop a comfortable rapport with clients. For a mid-sized firm, we guard our small-firm feel, focusing less on hierarchy and working together to yield the best designs and built projects.

What you bring:

  • Design chops - you've got vision, creativity, and skills
  • Collaborative spirit - the idea of interdisciplinary teamwork inspires you
  • Opinions - you have them and value sharing them with others
  • Passion - you have a healthy dose of ambition for yourself, your team, the work (and the firm you'll come to love)
  • Proactive resourcefulness - you're energetic and positive about solving problems and take initiative to find a way to say "yes"
  • Growth-orientation - you're curious and want to find greater ways to impact the world around you
  • Humanistic sensibility - you design for people and you are invested in the growth of your teammates

What you'll do:

  • To start, you will lead CA for a high visibility project and help ensure that the design intent is maintained throughout the construction process.
  • Subsequent project work may expand into earlier phases of the design process, as well as CA.

As part of the CA process, you will:

  • Coordinate with the design team, owner and contractor
  • Review the construction drawings, specifications and reports prior to the construction start
  • Participate in bidding and negotiations phase activities
  • Attend site meetings with contractor and project owner
  • Respond to RFIs and review submittals
  • Conduct site visits and produce field reports
  • Review pay applications and change orders
  • Conduct project close-out activities
  • Travel out of state for bi-weekly project meetings
  • Participate in Technical Resources Group activities including the maintenance of office standards and internal project reviews.
  • Mentor junior staff
