About This Position

Utile is seeking a talented architect to join our multi-family housing practice, focusing on affordable and Passive House projects for mission-driven clients in Greater Boston and beyond.

We are experts in urban design, planning, architecture, and interiors. Our current architectural projects include multifamily housing at all scales and market sectors, innovative work spaces for design savvy organizations, and institutional and civic design commissions for leading academic and municipal clients.

Required skills and expertise: Either a Master in Architecture or Bachelor of Architecture degree 3-7+ years of experience. Demonstrated experience designing/managing multi-family housing projects, from concept design through construction.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong design portfolio that demonstrates experience designing and managing projects with an understanding of how tectonic considerations inform design.

  • Command of Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, Rhino, and REVIT and the ability to work collaboratively in team settings.
  • Capability to verbally frame problems, convey concepts, communicate specific work plans, and collaborate with a team of designers, consultants and engage with clients directly.
  • Experience with and interest in urban multi-family housing (experience with both market rate and affordable housing is a plus)
  • Experience with and interest in sustainable design (experience with Passive House standards is a plus)
