About This Position

The BIM Coordinator plays a crucial role in the success of high-stakes design projects. As the go-to person for architects and interior designers grappling with the complexities of Revit, you are responsible for solving problems, creating efficiencies, and helping keep projects error free and on schedule. On a daily basis you use, support, administrate, and troubleshoot the firm’s design software suite. This role is very rewarding, as you work to build rapport with fellow passionate creatives and techies, all striving to innovate, design and build skylines for the ages.

This role is for you if you are a technically inclined creative or a BIM software devotee. You are adept at asking the right questions to identify problems and are driven to devise solutions and share the knowledge. You have a client service orientation, a commitment to learning and always finding a way forward, and act as if every question is an opportunity to help build a skill. You are able to discern the relative priority of competing requests while helping the team keep a level head.

You will join a smart, collaborative BIM/CAD group within an IT department that is committed to supporting one another and the firm. You will gain exposure to a wide variety of architecture and interior design projects and work side-by-side with highly skilled professionals at one of the most renowned architecture firms in Boston. You will have the opportunity to expand your technical and soft skills, while materially impacting the quality of projects at EMA.


  • Assist the architecture and interiors teams with identifying and solving all issues that arise in the use of Revit, including but not limited to design, input, use, and software/technical issues.
  • Provide support to projects with BIM/CAD technical skill gaps within the design team.
  • Participate in the development of systems, libraries, and resources.
  • Set up new project files for design teams.
  • Provide assistance to teams:
    • Setting up 2D views using view templates work sets, and filters, and annotating 2D views (i.e. notes, dimensions, tags, and symbols.)
    • Modeling both simple and complex elements (i.e. walls, floors, fire stairs, and railings.)
    • Creating simple, parametric and complex components (i.e. resizable casework, windows, and curtain panels.)
  • Develop and document workflows.
  • Provide assistance within IT group as needed.
  • Ensure compatibility and timely installation and set-up of Autodesk design software.
  • Provide quality control for completeness & adherence to company standards of drawing production.
  • Work alongside the QAQC team on development of standards.


  • Bachelor’s Degree; in architecture or design preferred.
  • Three (3) years using Revit in a professional environment.
  • One (1) year supporting Revit; 3-5 years providing technical support for Revit and AutoCAD preferred.
  • Experience organizing and setting up Revit project files, templates, families, and creating parametric components.
  • Three (3) years as an architect/designer preferred.


  • Must have an in-depth working knowledge of Revit.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to listen.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, including documenting processes and procedures that can be followed by others.
  • Ability and desire to identify and solve problems.
  • Ability to take direction as well as work independently.
  • Ability to determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance.
  • Ability and desire to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Strong detail-orientation and able to handle confidential information.
  • Preferred additional skills
    • BIM360 and Navisworks / Model Coordination
    • Ability to use SketchUp, Rhino3D, Bluebeam.
    • Ability to use MS Office products (e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word).
    • Ability to use Adobe products (e.g. Photoshop and InDesign).
    • Dynamo/Programming and Revit training.
    • Ability to provide desktop, device and infrastructure support:
      • Windows 10 64 bit desktops, laptops, MS Surface Pro, and iPads.
      • BYOD support.
      • Printers and plotters.
      • Zoom / VPN / remote working support.
