At a time when healthcare institutions are looking for innovative solutions to help simplify systems and reduce costs, Perkins+Will’s Boston studio has hired Ron Gorham  Assoc. AIA as principal and practice leader for the sector. Gorham’s 25-year career in healthcare planning, design, and management will help broaden the firm’s industry presence and expand its regional expertise nationwide.

Gorham will join healthcare principal Chuck Siconolfi at the Boston studio of Perkins+Will, where clients include Maine Medical Center, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, and Nemours Children’s Hospital.

“We help clients think strategically about their operations, using design as an economic driver, resiliently and sustainably. Everything we do is backed by data and we work nationally across offices to share ideas and to arrive at new solutions that challenge existing typologies,” Gorham said.

Ariana Baird has been promoted to Designer/Manager. Baird has been with SBA for 4 years in her previous role as Design/Drafter II designing interiors for various healthcare projects and is currently working on the Putnam Hospital emergency department expansion project in Carmel, NY. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from Radford University.

Carole C. Wedge FAIA, LEED AP, president of Shepley Bulfinch, has been selected as a member of the Boston Green Ribbon Commission (GRC). Formed in 2010, the GRC convenes Boston’s top business, institutional, and civic leaders to develop climate resilience and carbon-mitigation strategies that support the City’s Climate Action Plan.

DRA Architects announces that Jim Barrett AIA, Principal, and Greg Smolley AIA, Senior Project Manager, recently received the Accredited Learning Environments Planner (ALEP) designation, a mark of excellence developed to reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities of a competent educational facility planner.

Widofsky has over 20 years of experience working throughout a range of market sectors including academic, municipal, and healthcare projects. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from University of Southern California.

DRA Architects welcomes John Tindall-Gibson PhD who recently joined as Learning Environment Planner. Building upon DRA’s success in the education market, Tindall-Gibson will draw from his more than 30 years of experience as an educator to assist him in his new role. He will work in collaboration with the existing education team and be based in the firm's Connecticut studio. Before joining DRA, he served as Superintendent of Schools at Naugatuck Public Schools in Connecticut. He has worked as a high school teacher, K-8 and middle school administrator, and superintendent in four school districts in Arizona, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Tindall-Gibson earned his PhD in Educational Administration from the University of Arizona.
