Traffic Advisory Speaker Series: From Rome to the North End: Life without driving

May’s speaker, Mayor Ignazio Marino of Rome, Italy, continued the theme of valuable lessons from other cities by reporting on a series of innovative, often controversial, and ultimately successful transportation experiments. Bringing the perspective of another city that places great value on its history, the Mayor added a new argument for reducing automobile dependence not yet heard often in Boston: historic preservation.

This lecture is part of Traffic Advisory, a component of Overhaul: the 2013-2014 Transportation Series, organized by the Boston Society of Architects, the Boston Foundation for ArchitectureBoston’s Green Ribbon Commission, and the Barr Foundation.
