Bigger than a Breadbox: An evening with the curators and designers

The medium of installation serves a unique function in the architect’s toolbox as it allows designers to bridge the gap that exists between the conceptual and physical practices of architecture. Originally appropriated from the art world, the widely used medium introduces new ideas and methodologies to the design process, questioning long-held notions regarding the nature and purpose of architecture.

Spend an evening with the creative minds behind BSA Space’s current exhibition Bigger than a Breadbox, Smaller than a Building. Moderated by co-curator Rob Trumbour AIA of the design/research practice Khôra LLC, this open discussion focuses on three design firms featured in the show: Matter Design, IK Studio, and NADAAA. While sharing a common ambition—to push the boundaries of architecture—these designers approach the genre of architectural installations in different and personal ways. This event is an exclusive opportunity to explore in a more intimate setting some of the site-specific installations currently on display. Light refreshments will be served.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and visit the exhibition at their leisure. This is a program of the BSA Foundation.
