Please join us for an opening reception for Critical Exchange: Boston Architects in the Middle East and Not Old School: Architecture in Support of Learning.

Critical Exchange: Boston Architects in the Middle East, a companion exhibit to City of Mirages: Baghdad 1952–1982, includes projects by several contemporary Boston-based practices that are shaped by the approaches and agendas of international practice inflecting to local conditions. Curated by Mark Pasnik AIA, Chris Grimley and Michael Kubo of over,under, Critical Exchange examines the political and economic complexities, material cultures, climactic realities, construction practices or social traditions that affect contemporary firms working in the Middle East.

Not Old School: Architecture in Support of Learning focuses on five trends in education and explores how students learn in a series of innovative new schools from Europe, Asia and the United States. Curated by Cambridge firm HMFH Architects, the exhibit highlights how architects are designing schools that more actively engage the whole student. Celebrate with us. Light refreshments will be provided and the event is free and open to all.
