City of Mirages: Curator tour and talk with Pedro Azara

Don’t miss a unique opportunity, exclusive to BSA members, to interact and mingle with the curator of City of Mirages: Baghdad, 1952–1982. Curated by Spanish architect and academic Dr. Pedro Azara, this exhibit opens at BSA Space on October 2 and uncovers 15 built and unbuilt works by the world’s best-known architects in Baghdad, a part of the history of modernism that has been relatively underexplored and is still not well known. The BSA has the unique opportunity to host Azara for three days during the opening of this exhibit at BSA Space. His visit will include a one-time-only talk and tour of the exhibit for a limited number of BSA members on October 3.

Pedro Azara is professor of aesthetics and theory of art at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona. Author of La reconstrucción del Edén: Mito y arquitectura en Oriente, Azara has curated Soul Houses at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona, and Bulls: Myth and Cult in the Ancient Mediterranean at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona and at the Benaki Museum of Athens.

Advance registration is required, and space is limited. Light reception to follow. $20 per person.
