Client Conversations: “Selecting the Architect for a Private Development, Part 2"

A new panel comprising three local experts will address one of the biggest challenges facing private developers and that permeates the architecture industry: New constructions have to be financially sound. Besides adhering to an agreed-upon building budget, developers have to convince tenants to pay high rental fees that will cover the property’s operating and fixed expenses, including its debt service. An additional requirement is to provide investors with an acceptable return.

An architect’s ability to navigate successfully through a complex landscape of legal, regulatory, and interest-group forces is increasingly important to the developer because these elements can dramatically affect design and costs.

This session provides an opportunity for design professionals to find out what capabilities and skills developers look for when selecting a design team. A lively discussion between the attendees and the panelists will be strongly encouraged.
