*CANCELLED* Conversations on Architecture: “The House of the Muses”

This Conversations on Architecture session will examine the symbiotic relationship between art and architecture and how they interact with each other, analyzing the different spaces involved in the artistic discipline: from the artist’s studio to the museum.

Join Iñaki Ábalos, founder and director of Abalos+Sentkiewicz Arquitectos and chair of the department of architecture at Harvard's Graduate School of Design, to explore the close ties between both traditions while identifying new design approaches that have spawned from artistic practices. A renowned Spanish architect with extensive experience in both the academy and the professional field, Ábalos will explain how architects can use artistic means to breathe life into the design process.

Iñaki Ábalos and Renata Sentkiewicz, with offices in Madrid, Boston, and Shanghai, have worked together since 1999, first at Ábalos&Herreros and since 2006 as cofounders of Ábalos+Sentkiewicz Arquitectos. The work they develop stands out for proposing an original synthesis of technical rigor, formal imagination, and discipline integration between architecture, environment, and landscape, an approach they call “a thermodynamic beauty.”

The firm is currently developing projects in Europe, Latin America, and Asia. Read more.
