Family Design Day: Canstruction with LEGO® Bricks

Come to BSA Space for a fun and mouth-watering tour of Canstruction 2015! Inspired by this year’s theme—“Celebrate 20 years in Boston!”—local design teams competed to create the most compelling structures made of canned goods. After the tour, design your own project using LEGO® bricks.

Canstruction is a charity and exhibition in which teams of architects, designers, engineers, and contractors compete to display colossal sculptures made of canned goods—all for a good cause. Materials from Canstruction are donated to the Merrimack Valley Food Bank.

If you would like to bring nonperishable food items, they will be donated to Merrimack Valley Food Bank.

This family program is designed for parents and children aged five to 13. A maximum ratio of one adult per three children is required. BSA Space is one block from South Station. Enter through BSA Space’s public entrance, and go up the iconic green staircase. The program will begin promptly at 10:30 am.

Family Design Day programs encourage children and adults to observe, explore, and design together. In these two-hour hands-on workshops, families are introduced to architecture and design through exhibition tours, walking tours, or slideshows and then complete a hands-on design activity. Architects and design educators lead the activities focused on the built environment of Boston and the world.
