Family Design Day: Woodwork!

Join Learning By Design as we kick off our fall series of Family Design Days @ BSA Space through an exploration of our exhibition Urban Timber: From seed to city. This exhibition celebrates wood as the region's most sensible and abundant choice of material for urban building, highlighting its flexibility and technical qualities, including timber's potential to combat climate change. We'll tour the exhibition focusing on four winning projects proposed by emerging architects to learn about innovative structural uses of timber, then do a hands-on design project using a wood kit of parts.

This Family Program is designed for children 5 – 13 years old, accompanied by an adult – a maximum ratio of three children per one adult will be required. Tickets are $8 per person, children and adults. BSA Space is one block from South Station.Program begins promptly at start time.

Family Design Day Programs encourage children and adults to observe, explore, and design together. In these hands-on workshops, families are introduced to architecture and design through exhibit tours, walking tours, or slide shows, and then complete a hands-on design activity. Architects and Design Educators lead the activities focused on the built bnvironment of Boston and the world.
