Waste Not: Design Excellence and Resilience in Wastewater Treatment Plants

Wastewater treatment plants are among the most basic and critical infrastructure systems. In addition to protecting public health and the environment, many of these facilities are in locations that are highly visible and vulnerable to flood events.

Forward-thinking investments are adapting plants for future resiliency challenges and leveraging the opportunity to elevate design excellence. Our guests, Greg Clawson AIA and Stephen Estes-Smargiassi, will present the approaches undertaken at the Newtown Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant in New York and facilities within the MWRA’s system, respectively.

Please join us for a joint event with the Boston Society of Civil Engineers Section (BSCES) Environmental & Water Resources Institute
(EWRI) Boston Chapter and the Boston Society of Architects (BSA) Infra\tecture Committee.

Panelists: Greg Clawson AIA LEED BD+C, Associate Partner at Ennead and Stephen Estes-Smargiassi, Director of Planning and Sustainability at the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA)
