Integrated Project Delivery Lean Roundtable

On the Brink of the Lean Revolution - Where We've Been and Where We're Going

Lean practices have started to take hold in New England as RFPs for public and private projects have increasingly been asking AEC companies to discuss how they may use Lean tools and techniques to assist in project management. Cynthia Tsao, Consigli Construction's Director of Lean Strategy, will discuss her observations of the Lean movement in New England and how we can learn from similar movements across the US and abroad. She will review the tension between Lean training and implementation and discuss the relationship between Lean and other AEC practices such as IPD, BIM, Sustainability, and Prefabrication. In closing, she will work with attendees to identify what we can do within our companies and projects to establish and sustain a Lean culture of continuous improvement and respect for people in everyday work.

As the Director of Lean Strategy at Consigli, Cynthia is responsible for customizing the approach for Lean implementation on construction projects as well as within and across company departments. A proponent of Lean project delivery since 1997, Cynthia uses her expertise in product-process design integration to help teams improve project outcomes by efficiently using and enhancing team member capabilities as well as transforming complex design problems into ones that are easier to manage and construct.
