Architecture + the 21st Century Paradigm Shift

How do Biometrics Inform Design + Reframe the History of Modern Architecture? We live in a new “Age of Biology,” where new findings in psychology and neuroscience are changing our understanding of how people experience buildings and even how modern architecture came to be.
Ann Sussman, architect, author and researcher, discusses some of this science, culling out the information most significant for architects and designers. She reviews tools commonly used to gather biometric data which can help us 'see' how people actually, ‘unconsciously', take in their surroundings. Images and short videos from some of the first biometric pilot-studies of buildings in NYC and Boston will be features of Ann’s presentation. While these technologies can’t tell us how to design, in letting us ‘see’ the unseen, they suggest how to adjust our work so it’s a better fit for our bodies and brains or, in sum, human nature.
Co-sponsored by BSA-COTE, plus we offer lunch & CEUs

For those who qualify, 1.5 LU/HSWs are available.
