Traffic Advisory, Bus Rapid Transit: A Global Perspective

Traffic Advisory Speaker Series continues this summer with an international look at Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in cities including Johannesburg, Guangzhou, and Mexico City. Speakers include: Walter Hook, CEO at the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP), a sought-after authority on bus rapid transit systems throughout the world; Rehana Moosajee former MMC for Transport in Johannesburg, South Africa, and the brains behind Africa’s first bus rapid transport system—Rea Vaya; and Joseph Calabrese, CEO/General Manager at Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority, responsible for implementing the best BRT in the States, the silver-standard HealthLine BRT. The talk will also highlight other successful American rollouts of BRT systems.

The Traffic Advisory speaker series is part of Overhaul: The 2013-2014 Transportation Series, sponsored by the Barr Foundation and organized by the Boston Society of Architects and the Boston Foundation for Architecture, is bringing together leaders from across North America and Europe to talk to us about the role that 21st century transportation can and should play in adapting to a new period of transformative change.
