Tale of Two Bridges, 2007, Photograph, $700.00
The Penobscot Narrows Bridge, featuring a 420 ft glass-enclosed observation tower, was designed as an emergency replacement for the Waldo–Hancock Bridge. From conception to completion, just 42 months elapsed! Then for six years they stood side-by-side as plans to remove the old bridge took longer.

The Penobscot Narrows Bridge featuring a 420ft glass-enclosed observation tower, was designed as an emergency replacement for the Waldo–Hancock Bridge. Here we see the two bridges side-by-side, and see the similarities of how each achieved its purpose for the day-to-day use in its surroundings.

From the observation tower in the Penobscot Narrows Bridge, one can observe the scene coming to life with travelers on the new bridge, as the old bridge waits for its demise.
