WiD Exhibition Board: Illustrated on the exhibition board are three major aspects of Doris Cole’s professional life. Included are some images of her books, competition building designs, and commentary posters.

Writing Books and Articles: Doris Cole has written five books on architecture and numerous articles and essays. She wrote the first book on women in architecture in the United States, From Tipi to Skyscraper: A History of Women in Architecture. Some other books include, Eleanor Raymond, Architect, and School Treasures: Architecture of Historic Boston Schools, with Nick Wheeler photographer.

Designing Buildings for People: From 1981 to 2012 Doris was a founding principal with Harold Goyette, AIA, AICP of Cole and Goyette, Architects and Planners Inc. The firm specialized in residential, educational, and commercial buildings. In 2012 she established her new practice, Doris Cole, FAIA, Architecture/Planning to concentrate upon creative designs for our spaces and structures.

Creating Commentary Posters: The posters are Doris Cole’s response to recent questions asked about her life as an architect. Exploration and contemplation were her goals for these watercolors encompassing observations on the physical environment, memorable quotations, professional transitions, and her future aspirations. In 2017 the Commentary Posters were exhibited at Harvard Graduate School of Design, Frances Loeb Library, Special Collections.
