The Institute for Human Centered Design (IHCD) welcomes WID for an evening of sharing our practice, methods and global vision of the central role of design in making the reality of diversity of ability, age and culture work and its power to enrich everyone’s experience. IHCD is an international educational and design non-profit founded in 1978 and headquartered in Boston.

Explore how to make the case for inclusive design based on demographics, research and precedent; learn about using contextual inquiry research with “user/experts” interacting with the built environment that generates data to inform design; see examples of IHCD projects in education, transportation, culture, healthcare and housing that build on accessible design as a human right to design that facilitates richer experiences for everyone. IHCD will also talk about our next initiatives with a focus on Boston. Our specialized library will be available for browsing as well as a mix of take-away materials.

Women designers from our staff, board and interns/coop students will host and are excited to welcome WID. Food and drink will be available throughout the evening for casual refreshment.

WiD Wednesdays are casual networking events that occur on the first Wednesday of the month with a focus on celebrating local design.
