Privacy Policy

Guiding Principles

When we collect personal information from you, we generally require only the basic information needed for us to provide the service or product requested, whether that be (for example) to sign up for an event, member registration, or to set up an e-news subscription.

Security

Personal information you give us is kept confidential and protected using industry-standard technology, such as firewalls and secure socket layers (SSL), a sophisticated internet encryption technology that scrambles data as it travels from your computer to our website’s servers.

Note: Personal information stored on our web server is securely encrypted and stored away from publicly-accessible areas of the website. No transmission of data over the internet or any other public network, however, can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Although we make diligent efforts to safeguard your personal information once we receive it, we cannot warrant the security of information you transmit to us.

Cookies

The BSA’s website employs cookie technology. A “cookie” is a small piece of information that a website asks your browser to store on your hard drive. This information helps the website “recognize” you instantly so you don’t have to reenter information you’ve previously given , tell us what pages on the site you previously visited, and help us determine whether you came to the site from a particular internet link. If you prefer, you can disable cookies on your browser settings. You may still use our website, even with cookies disabled.

The BSA may disclose non-personally identifiable aggregate statistics regarding user behavior as a measure of interest in, and use of, our website, such as overall patterns or demographic reports that do not describe or identify any individual user. Information relating to aggregate statistics may be collected through the use of third-party cookies and other third-party tracking devices.

E-mail Addresses and Personal Information

We do not sell, rent, exchange, or otherwise share e-mail addresses and personal information with anyone outside of the BSA. If this specific policy should ever change, we will post the policy changes and give you the opportunity to opt-out of any e-mail address sharing programs.

We do use e-mail addresses collected from an assortment of website transactions and interactions, such as registering for events, to send periodic communications about our work in general and about specific subjects we believe may be of interest to you.

Member Information

Member information is never sold or rented. However, the organization occasionally will send an email on behalf of a partner or sponsor to share relevant information with our members without sharing their contact information.

Accessing and Updating Your Information

To access your information to modify it or to opt out of any BSA communications, log in here or contact us at [email protected] or 617-391-4000.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Your Consent

By using our website, you consent to the collection and use of personal information by the BSA as described in this Privacy Policy. We reserve the right to change our Privacy Policy at any time. If this policy should change, we will first post the policy changes on our website. Once posted, such changes shall be effective immediately. Your continued use of the website shall be deemed as acceptance of the modified policy.

Please be aware that when you click on links that take you to third party websites, you will be subject to the third parties’ privacy policies, not ours. While we support the protection of privacy on the internet, we cannot be responsible for the actions of third parties. Therefore, we encourage you to read third party privacy policies whenever interacting with, and prior to providing any personal information to, another website.
