Autonomous Vehicles: Who's driving the future of urban places?

Autonomous Vehicle (AV) technology is advancing rapidly, with test applications already happening in the Boston area. In the short term, AV's will rapidly change the ways we think about use of public streets for travel and parking, placement of other parking, forms of vehicles, and the pricing of vehicle travel. The longer-term evolution of mobility networks will also present opportunities for new paradigms around building types, land use, and urban growth patterns.

Public agencies, vehicle and technology companies, and other entities are quickly developing new policy approaches that will have major implications as to whether AV's produce positive or negative impacts on qualities of streets, urban character and transportation choices. Join us for a presentation and interactive discussion on the latest in AV status and thinking on the opportunities and challenges AV's pose for urban places. This will include reports from an AV policy workshop taking place March 8-9 at the Harvard's Kennedy School. Contribute your aspirations, concerns, and suggestions for AV-driven urban design questions that deserve further study.
