Dementia-Friendly Cities - Boston and the World

For the Fall 2017 opening meeting Design for Aging will host two members of the Age-Friendly Boston team:
Patricia McCormack, director of the Mayor's Alzheimer's Initiative and Nicole Chandler, staff assistant for Age-Friendly Boston.

Our guests will update the DFA members on the progress of the Age-Friendly city initiative, the report unveiled last spring, that summarized the information gathering and fact finding portion of the five-year initiative, as well as the new dementia-awareness programs that are now integrated into the city's initiative.
We will also be looking at examples from other cities in Europe that are training city employees and other service providers in the reality of a person navigating life with dementia and how to make everyday life more manageable and enjoyable.

DFA Committee members will report on a meeting with the Boston Department of Neighborhood Development (DND) with regard to guidelines for Age-Friendly housing.

The meeting is planned as a casual conversation and all contributions from your experience or research will be appreciated.

Our meetings are free and open to all, but please RSVP so we can plan the refreshments.
