The 9th Addition MA Building Code – Proposed Changes to the New Code and Updates from the Public Hearing on March 7, 2017

Please join us and speaker, Larry S. Schwirian AIA of Caroline & Lawrence Schwirian Architects, LLC as we:

  • Review the proposed amendments for the 9th Addition of the Massachusetts Building Codes (Primarily IRC) to understand potential impacts upon future projects,
  • Review the changes adopted by the MA Board of Building Regulations (BBRS) for the new Energy Code based upon the IEEC/2015 to understand impacts upon current and future projects,
  • Discuss pros and cons of proposed changes in order to develop a list of comments that we may submit to BBRS as official input by the April10, 2017 deadline, and
  • Review the anticipated MA code amendment adoption dates and permit requirements so we may adjust our designs accordingly.

Larry is a LEED AP accredited architect with over 40 years of experience in organization, execution and coordination of contract documents on projects ranging from 1 million dollars to 100 million dollars. With a particular interest and expertise in code compliance, accessibility and energy codes, Larry is exceptionally well suited to bring us up to date on the recent code adoptions and hearings that are under way for the State of Massachusetts.

For those who qualify, 2 LU/HSWs are available.
