Join us for the third seminar in our summer series, “Structural Design at SGH,” hosted by Simpson Gumpertz & Heger at Atlantic Wharf in Downtown Boston.
ABOUT THE AUGUST SEMINARThroughout history, religious structures have been among humankind’s greatest endeavors because of the spiritual and cultural connections they create within their communities. This seminar will explore the challenges involved with designing new religious structures that combine ancient traditions with modern practices. The recently completed Baha’i Temple of South America is a striking example of a contemporary worship space. The architect’s design vision—a structure of nine organic-shaped leaves rising from a large reflecting pool towards the heavens—created enormous challenges for the design and construction team, and required many technical innovations.
For those who qualify, 1.0 LU/HSW is available.
