K-12 Educational Design: Inequities in Urban Schools

Laura Wernick FAIA and Pip Lewis AIA have been discussing ways to create healthy/equitable schools in Massachusetts with AIA MA, the MSBA, and the Mass Teachers Association. This is an effort to help the MSBA as well as school districts think about addressing longer term issues such as indoor air quality, acoustics, and access to green space as a matter of equity. We would like to find a way to assure more equitable distribution of resources across the State, specifically targeting poor urban areas.

The BSA K-12 Knowledge Community would like our members support and thoughts on this important issue of equity. Please review the attached letter outlining this mission.
