Project Management: Collaborating to Achieve Sustainability Goals

How do we establish a continuous and open dialogue among architects, engineers, consultants, and stakeholders surrounding the sustainability goals of a project? A large number of people are involved in the design and construction of buildings. In order to achieve big sustainability outcomes we need to set goals early on, and have everyone align behind the same goals. We will look at a framework for goal setting that will help to create sustainability goals that remain in the project, and discuss how to bring group of stakeholders together to make these decisions early in the project process. We need to have the ability to quantitatively convey the magnitude of decisions made across the project team and track a project’s progress toward sustainability goals. A design scenario focused on lighting will be used as an example of goal setting and holistic sustainable design.
