8:30 AM to 10:00 AM Presentation Incorporating Smoke Control Throughout A Project: From Concept Design Through Certificate of Occupancy. Guest speaker: Arthur Gager, PE Jensen Hughes Smoke, not heat, is the biggest concern to life safety during a fire event. As such, the building code requires smoke control in specific high-risk conditions. Smoke control is generally a complex system, which has architectural, mechanical, electrical, and many other traits involved. For this reason, it is important to understand when smoke control is required and how it is implemented. This presentation will review smoke control throughout the phases of a construction project. This will include outlining when smoke control systems are required, how to incorporate them into a project design, and steps necessary during construction.
