In healthcare facilities humans are at the center of everything. They are the user, the purpose, and the area of study. As designers of healthcare spaces, our mission is to support human health and wellbeing, not just for the patients being served but for every inhabitant of the building, the larger community, and those affected by our designs’ environmental and social impact.

Healthcare facility design has many unique requirements, considerations, and drivers. This session will introduce these elements for those new to the architecture profession, mid-career professionals looking to explore a new market, or those looking to refresh themselves after being away from healthcare work for a while.

BSA Healthcare Facility Committee Co-chair Andrew Brumbach AIA, EDAC of SmithGroup and Secretary Braden Reid AIA, Well AP of NBBJ will be joined by Wendy Weitzner, FACHE of The Innova Group and Mali Outzs AIA, LEED BD+C of Payette to share our experiences in healthcare facility design and planning. While this in an introductory session, we still welcome our more experienced peers to join the conversation and share their wisdom.
