COTE: Designing for Well-Being: Through a Lens of Economy (Virtual)

Saam architecture BSA COTE presentation image

Join members of saam architecture, a Boston-based, women-led design firm, for an engaging discussion around two of the AIA Framework for Excellence topics: Design for Well-Being and Design for Economy. Senior Associates Chin Chin Yao and Katie Kernizan AIA will be showcasing two of saam’s recent projects, the City of Boston Engagement Center and the City of Fitchburg Crocker Elementary School. Catherine Gaspard Assoc. AIA, Designer at saam and COTE Committee member, will be moderating the discussion.

The Engagement Center and Crocker Elementary School are both important projects within their respective communities. While these buildings are focused on the welfare of the individual, they also required design on a tight budget. Discussion will range from technical topics such as materiality and lighting to the experiential aspects of safety and privacy. Chin Chin and Katie have worked on numerous projects to deliver impactful and economical design to their clients. Saam is excited to share strategies of designing for both well-being and economy.
