Event Description

All interested members are invited to join us for a moderated roundtable discussion on the topic of school shootings driving a push for door locking devices. The United States has experienced 317 school shootings this year, surpassing the previous record, prompting lawmakers to consider legislation enabling emergency door-locking technology in schools. State Senator Michael Moore has proposed a bill to allow emergency door locks in public buildings, emphasizing local approval, consultations with emergency services, educator training, and annual inspections to enhance school safety in response to the rising concerns about school shootings.

At this joint meeting we will:

  • Receive a summary of Sen. Moore’s legislative proposal
  • Review the Patrick Administrations efforts to address this issue
  • Engage in a moderated roundtable discussion
  • Have a Q/A with meeting attendees

As advanced registration for the meeting is required, please register here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
