Estimating and Executing Exterior Insulation

Two seasoned contractors will report out on their experience estimating and executing exterior insulation details on single family homes. They will discuss successes and lessons learned from the field that are applicable to both contractors and architects.

Matt Ayers is Principal and Owner of Aedi Construction, a Waltham and Hingham based company specializing in sustainable building practices. Matt has completed more than ten super-insulation, near zero or passive house projects over the last decade. His work has received local and national awards and appeared in publications such as Design New England, Dwell and Fine Homebuilding.

Ryan McCarthy is a Project Manager at Auburndale Builders, a Newton company specializing in high-performance, healthy, comfortable, and resilient homes. Ryan is currently wrapping up a near zero fully accessible home in Newton with exterior insulation.
