The Wentworth Architecture Center for Applied Research (CfAR) is a student focused collaborative environment for investigating emerging fabrication technologies and methods. CfAR supports the Department of Architecture’s core principle of thinking through making by providing a dynamic network of spaces for prototyping and applied research. The Center provides students with equipment, expertise, and guidance to support a range of fabrication areas, including CNC, additive fabrication, carpentry, laser-cutting, and robotics. CfAR has recently renovated a significant portion of its student fabrication spaces in order to better support contemporary and future approaches to architectural education. It is a major milestone in a long-range, university-wide effort to provide students with hands on learning experiences. Join Wentworth for a tour of the new facilities and participate in a discussion centered around the preparation of design students for contemporary and future practice.
