PHMA March: PHIUS+2018 - The Affordable Path to NET ZERO

Join us for our March Meeting, open to all, as we welcome Katrin Klingenberg, Executive Director & Co-Founder of the Passive House Institute US (PHIUS).

In 2003, Ms. Klingenberg designed and completed the first home to meet passive house standards in the United States and since then has designed and consulted on numerous successful passive house and building projects across North America’s varied climate zones.

The PHIUS+2018 Passive Building Standard represents a significant improvement over the original passive house/building strategy. With its release the PHIUS tech committee has firmly set the standard on an efficient and affordable glide path to zero, aligning with the 2030 challenge. Among other significant refinements the new source energy rules will have the largest effect on building design as they now open up more design and cost optimization options for design teams while also nudging the teams along on the path to zero. We will discuss the specifics of the changes to PHIUS+2018 and their effects on the building design (single as well as multifamily) as well as commensurate and additional useful tool upgrades to WUFI Passive V3.2.
