Canstruction 2021

Wilson Butler

"The Show Will Go On," designed by Wilson Butler Architects (5,000 cans)

Canstruction is a charity event and exhibition where teams of architects, designers, engineers, and contractors compete in awe-inspiring feats of engineering to create sculptures made out of canned goods and other nonperishable food items—without the use of glue or other adhesives. In the past 25 years, Canstruction Boston has collected more than ONE MILLION pounds of food, providing more than 887,000 meals to people experiencing food insecurity in Massachusetts.

The 2021 Canstruction Boston theme is "That's Entertainment!"

While this year's competition has been scaled down to four structures for safety reasons, we invite you to help those experiencing hunger by donating to the Canstruction Boston fundraising campaign in one of the following ways:

  1. Create a fundraising team and compete for the Fundraising Soup-er Star Award: Any firm that works in the A/E/C industry is welcome to participate in this fundraising campaign to benefit the Merrimack Valley Food Bank, whether they are designing a structure this year or not. Interested in participating? See the rules here.
  2. Donate to the Merrimack Valley Food Bank: Want to help us make an impact for the 84,000 people who receive help from the food bank each month, but not able to join a team? Donate in one of the following ways:
    1. Text CANS to 833-918-1065!
    2. Contribute to the Facebook fundraiser (via the pinned post on the page)
    3. Visit the MVFB's website

Canstruction Boston also encourages the use of social media to promote the event and help raise awareness and funds. Any firm that works in the A/E/C industry is welcome to participate in our Social Media Soup-er Star competition on Instagram. See the rules here.

Don't forget to vote for your favorite sculpture by noon on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 by clicking "like" on the official photo in the Facebook album.
